Chesterfield County School Closures and a Circus

Chesterfield County School Closures and a CircusI love my kids more than anything and I am so grateful to have them. As a working mom, scheduling is of utmost importance and when schools close it really throws a wrinkle in my plans for the day. When the Chesterfield County School District closes for an entire week, well it isn't just a wrinkle anymore it is a flat our circus! This past week the Chesterfield County Public Schools cancelled classes for the entire week. Monday the kids had a holiday, however Tuesday through Friday the schools shut down due to poor weather conditions. Originally from Pennsylvania, this is a little frustrating as the roads aren't that bad in my opinion, however I try and remember snow is not a common occurrence in the Richmond VA area like it is in Central PA. While this week has been a struggle with childcare (let me just say I LOVE my sitter, Kailee, and I just may adopt her) I have tried to come up with some fun things for the kids to do so they don't get cabin fever too bad. One awesome activity I discovered is the Reading with Ringling Bros. program! Children, aged 2-12, can earn FREE Ringling Bros. Circus tickets simply by visiting a Chesterfield County Public Library branch, enrolling in the program, and collecting 5 stamps for their efforts. After the stamps have been obtained, the child earns a free ticket with an adult admission! So, while today you might be out of ideas and feeling like your house is a circus, here is a chance to get the kids out of the house and work towards going to a real, live circus...one where peanuts on the floor and sticky hands from cotton candy is totally acceptable!
